Can anyone explain what the xbase_anim mesh does?

xbase_anim.nif and xbase_anim.kf are what you get after separating base_anim.nif into two files, one for visual components and another for animations keyframes.

the x.kf file holds all the animation data. the x.nif file holds everything else. It includes all the character bones and the attach nodes where armor/clothing get placed.

As well as the hitbox and some other stuff.
