The Glow Map is an r,g,b (on all platforms) map that defines the sections of the object that are self-luminous. Black areas of this texture have no effect, while brighter areas will appear to glow. This map is useful in creating texture-based sci-fi style effects, such as aliens covered in glowing patches, or space suits covered in flashing lights and glowing indicators.
The glow map is added late in the texturing pipeline. As such it will tend to "glow through" most other effects.
